Teen, woman struck during shooting in Akron's Middlebury neighborhood

AKRON, Ohio — A woman and a teen were injured after an unknown group of people fired shots at one another on South Arlington Street in Akron Friday.

Officers responded at around 3:50 p.m. for a shots fired call in the 70 block of South Arlington Street in the city's Middlebury neighborhood.

A 25-year-old woman who had been sitting inside her car at a parking lot of a nearby business was shot. Her vehicle was also struck with gunfire.

The woman’s injuries were considered minor and she declined treatment. Police said she was not the intended target in the shooting.

A 17-year-old girl was also shot. She reported being shot while at Circle K. She was admitted to Akron Children’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries

Investigators said an unknown number of people exchanged gunfire during a fight and all shooters had fled the scene after the shooting. One of the vehicles involved is believed to be an older model gray Chevy Impala.

The vehicle had tinted windows and a dent on the right rear passenger door.
