CANTON, Ohio — Pro Football Hall of Fame employees and volunteers from Flags for Freedom spent Thursday morning placing 500 American flags around the museum—their goal to bring America together during the coronavirus crisis, according to News 5 media partner at The Canton Repository.
“They’re mainly up to show unity and solidarity,” said Steve Toohey, the founder and chief executive of Operation: Flags of Freedom, to the Canton Repository. “The Hall of Fame is looking to be a focal point as a large organization in Canton and with their proximity to the highway. They’re just looking to extend their hand in creating goodwill and good spirit with all that’s going on now.”
The flags will be visible at night thanks to portable light towers.
“As long as the display is there, we’re going to have the lights on from dusk to dawn.”
