CANTON, Ohio — The Canton Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that killed a man and injured a woman early Monday morning.
Police responded to the 900 block of 3rd Street Northwest at around 3:45 a.m. for shots fired.
Officers were flagged down in the 200 block of Fulton Road Northwest by a 26-year-old woman who said someone had fired several shots into her house.
Officers learned the 26-year-old woman had a gunshot wound to her arm and her boyfriend was shot in the head.
They were both taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton, where the woman’s boyfriend was pronounced dead. His identity is not being released until next-of-kin have been notified.
Canton police said this shooting was not a drive-by shooting and does not appear to be random.
The detective bureau is currently investigating the shooting at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 330-489-3144.
