MASSILLON, Ohio — A Beach City woman was arrested for allegedly running an officer off the road while police were chasing her boyfriend.

Angela Moseley, 43, is facing several charges, including felonious assault, complicity to failure to comply and obstruction of justice. She was picked up Thursday afternoon in Akron by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Police released body and dash camera video of the incident, which took place Sunday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Nicholas Antonides, the video shows a gray Cadillac, driven by Moseley, swerve towards to the left just as Massillon Officer Anthony Crabtree starts to pass her on Justus Avenue in Beach City. The officer briefly went off the road, but was able to maintain control.

"It was a brief thing. However, it was a big deal. It could have turned into something catastrophic," Antonides said. "It could have cost an officer's life. It could have cost her life."

Officer don't believe the maneuver was an accident. At the time, officers were chasing Wayne Penick, 44, of Beach City. Police said their investigation revealed Penick called Moseley during the pursuit.

"He called her during the pursuit to come and interfere with us as we were pursuing him," Antonides said.

The incident began around 4 p.m when officers received a tip that Penick, who had an active warrant for running from Canton police, was outside of Menard's in Massillon.

Officers approached Penick, who was in a 1977 Dodge Charger, and told him to put his hands on the wheel, but when he didn't listen to commands, an officer opened a door and deployed a Taser as Penick began to drive away, police said.

"However it did not work. It was effective with the driver. However, he wasn't letting it stop him," Antonides said.

Police said Penick peeled off and headed south on Route 21. The chase, which also involved state troopers, lasted about 33 minutes in various parts of Stark and Tuscarawas Counties.

Video shows the driver running several stops signs, driving on the wrong side of the road and even through several lawns.

About 20 minutes after the officer's close call with the Cadillac, Penick drove over a fence, through a farm field and into a creek near Beach City, police said.

Antonides said Penick ran, but he was stunned with a Taser again and arrested.

He was taken to a hospital to be checked out before he was booked into the Stark County Jail. Felony charges against him include aggravated possession of drugs, failure to comply and obstructing official business. He's also facing misdemeanor counts of driving while under suspension, resisting arrest and reckless operation.

Antonides said he's grateful no one was hurt during the wild ride and had a message for the couple: "Don't do it again. Don't get involved, even if it's a loved one. Now she's going to have equivalent charges and she's going to be in as much trouble as he is."
