CLEVELAND — The 1.9 mile stretch of the Towpath Trail project is now open to the public, Cuyahoga County announced on Monday.

The addition of this portion of the trail includes views of the city skyline from a 30-foot high grassy mound adjacent to the trail.

The latest stretch links the Steelyard Commons with Literary Avenue in Tremont. It provides an important link between the popular neighborhood, the Steelyard and Clark Fields.

Stage 3 is the longest piece of the four-phased trail project that makes up the Cleveland portion of the trail.

Most of the construction wrapped up last year, so walkers and bikers have been using the trail since then, but officials held a virtual ribbon cutting celebrating the project.

The final price tag on the project was about $14 million.

Stage 4 will be completed in Summer 2021. It will connect to Canal Basin Park near Columbus Road.
