CLEVELAND — A three-year-old boy was hospitalized after caregivers say he accidentally shot himself in the leg on Thursday, according to Cleveland police.
Officers responded to MetroHealth Hospital after receiving a report that a toddler had been shot in the leg, police said.
The incident occurred in the 3200 block of West 38th Street on the city's West Side. The boy’s caregivers indicated to officers that the boy might have accidentally shot himself after obtaining a handgun, according to police.
The boy is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
Police said the boy’s father has been arrested for weapons charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
