CLEVELAND — A 37-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Cleveland’s North Collinwood neighborhood, according to Jennifer Ciaccia, spokeswoman for the Cleveland Police Department.
Officers responded at around 6 a.m. to the 300 block of East 162nd Street for a male shot.
The victim was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to his chest. Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.
Investigators on scene learned the 37-year-old man was visiting his son at the woman’s house when someone known to the woman broke into the upstairs bedroom window and began assaulting her, according to police.
The 37-year-old man attempted to intervene when he was shot.
The homicide remains under investigation. No arrests have been made in the shooting.
