CLEVELAND — A car slammed into the porch of a house on West 134th Street and San Diego Avenue Monday afternoon right in front of the home's owner; two people who ran from the vehicle are both in police custody.
A Cleveland Police officer at the scene said the driver was trying to turn at a very high speed and slammed into the front porch of the house.
The homeowner was about to pull into his driveway when he saw the whole thing happen.
"I got out, first impulse was to check and see if they were okay, but they got out of the car, stumbling, drunk, started running down the street," said Jonathan Allen. "So went after them, good thing I didn’t catch them."
His three adult sons were inside the house at the time, but thankfully, they were not hurt.
The homeowner said the car hit the house with so much force, a portion of it went into the home’s basement.
"Blessing of God everything is okay. We can get this fixed, this is not a problem. So everything is cool, nobody got hurt, I'm glad they caught the guys, so we’re good," Allen said.
The vehicle's driver and passenger were both taken into custody for outstanding warrants. Police have not confirmed if alcohol was a factor, but said that the driver will be facing traffic citations.
