Posted

Authorities have named a suspected wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in a gas station parking lot on Cleveland's east side earlier this month.

Edward Blanton, 21, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for allegedly shooting 29-year-old Yuri West near East 140th Street and St. Clair Avenue on Aug. 7.

The victim "exchanged words" with a man in the parking lot and the man pulled out a gun and shot him in the head, authorities said. The man fled the scene in a maroon SUV.

West was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from his wounds, authorities said.

Blanton is a black male, about 6-feet-tall and weighs around 185 pounds, according to authorities. He has long hair in the photo, but authorities believe he may have cut his hair in an attempt to hide his identity.

Anyone with information about Blanton's whereabouts is asked to call the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED.
