The Cleveland Indians plan to ask Cuyahoga County for $8 million to fund the renovation of Progressive Field. According to the organization, the improvements represent areas of the ballpark that need the most attention after 25 years of use.

The Indians said the money would go to renovate the executive office first floor and club lounge.

"Both areas need contemporary updating as the business has changed since the ballpark was originally designed and built in the early 1990s and opened in 1994," a team spokesperson said.

According to the Indians, when the plan is final it will be submitted to the Gateway Board. Once approved, a payment request will be submitted to Cuyahoga County Council for funding approval.
