CLEVELAND — Cleveland's Fourth of July fireworks are moving to September due to COVID-19 concerns.

The Downtown Cleveland Alliance made the decision based on the Ohio Department of Health's recommendations to avoid mass gatherings.

“After weeks of researching ways to go forward with the fireworks as planned, we decided that the most prudent and safe way to celebrate was to reschedule Light Up the Lake for a later date,” said Joe Marinucci, president and CEO of Downtown Cleveland Alliance. “We look forward to celebrating together in the fall with the many families who traditionally visit Downtown Cleveland for this annual event.”

The firework show will take place on Sept. 19.
