Aside from exterior inconveniences, fans can expect to be redirected inside The Q to take alternative routes within.
The renovation project will update the 23-year-old Quicken Loans Arena. This first phase is expected to last through mid-June.
The north and south sides of the arena will undergo construction first, expanding the arena. Construction will also include the addition of a 42,530-square foot atrium space along Huron Rd. that will be enclosed by a glass facade.
Cavs and Monsters games will not be affected for the remainder of the season. However, all event activity during the summers of 2018 and 2019 are canceled. The Q will be back open for the 2018-19 Cavs and Monsters season.

The newly renovated Q will be back open in September 2019 for year-round events.
Here's what you need to know if you're traveling around the construction zone:
- The North Expansion spans from the corner of Ontario St. and Huron Rd to the corner of Huron Rd. and E. 6th St.
- Screened barriers will eliminate access to sidewalks in front of The Q.
- Crosswalks on Huron Rd. to The Q will be redefined to direct pedestrians to available entrances during construction.
- Signage will direct fans to open entrances.
- The south side expansion construction zone will have little affect on fans.
Arena access during events:
- Quicken Loans Arena Guest Services representatives and signs will help direct fans to available entrances.
- The Gateway East Garage and East Bridge that connects to The Q will remain open with access into the arena during all events.
- The JACK Casino Garage North Bridge connection to The Q will be open through the remainder Cavaliers 2018 season. However, the bridge will be permanently eliminated this summer.
The following locations are wheelchair accessible:
- The Gateway East Bridge and the JACK Casino North Bridge
- The RTA Walkway entrance located on Ontario St. It will also serve as the location for curbside drop off.
- The E. 6th St. entrance next to the Cavaliers Team Shop
- The south entrance across from Gateway Plaza
Traffic patterns on Huron Rd. will be changed, reducing traffic from four to two lanes from Ontario to E. 6th St. Other streets may also be turned into one-ways.
