Just in time for Small Business Saturday, Fresh Brewed Tees opened up its store in Ohio City on Friday.
According to the National Retail Federation, out of the 67 million Americans expected to shop Saturday, 78 percent said they would shop locally.
Fresh Brewed Tees owner and CEO Tony Madalone said he couldn't be more excited with his new space.
“You’re not just coming to buy a t-shirt. You’re coming to experience community," he said.
He started selling shirts nine years ago and has continued online, out of a truck and at the airport.
The shop on Jay Avenue also has a coffee shop, so customers can sip and shop through quirky Cleveland designs.
Madalone showed News 5 some of his favorite designs, including his "Defend the Land" collection. It's a phrase he trademarked several years back.
Other shirts include roman numerals for the area code of the city, coordinates for landmarks and even shirts paying tribute to the "rally possum".
“To be able to put our roots into a vibrant community, especially Ohio City — it’s invigorating, it’s fun, it’s exciting, and we hope to be here for a long time," he said. "We just love our city.”
