CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor has indicted a group of men for the death of a beverage store owner.
Andre McKelvey, 18, Robert McKelvey Jr., 21, and Keyshawn Smith, 19, are accused of killing Mohamed Shahin, 33, on Feb. 5.
The three men, along with Kadijah Akram, 20, were also indicted for numerous robberies around Cuyahoga County between Jan. 13 and Feb. 18.
“This was a gang of gun-toting robbers that preyed on commercial businesses in Cuyahoga County,” said Prosecutor O’Malley. “They committed at least nine armed robberies in a month and murdered a 33-year-old beverage store owner in the process. This case is being evaluated for capital charges.”
McKelvey, McKelvey Jr., and Smith have been charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, murder, kidnapping, and felonious assault.
Akram has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and kidnapping.
Akram and Andre McKelvey are also charged with having weapons under disability.
On Feb. 5, Cleveland police responded to a report of an armed robbery and shooting at a beverage store on Lakeview Road and Durant Avenue.
Police said Shahin suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to the hospital where he later died.
