Indiana State Police receive request for personnel during Republican National Convention

Posted

Indiana State Police said they received a request from the Ohio State Highway Patrol to send personnel to Cleveland for the Republican National Convention.

Indiana police said requests such as these are infrequent, though the department has shared resources in other circumstances such as when it sent 60 state police officers to Biloxi, Miss. in September 2005 after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. The department also sent a handful of personnel to Long Island, N.Y. after Hurricane Sandy struck in October 2012.

Indiana State Police said the request is called an Emergency Management Assistance Compact and all costs associated with the request are the responsibility of the agency asking for support.
