Authorities have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the rape and kidnapping of a teen girl at a hotel near Independence over the weekend.
The suspect, Dimitrius Anglen, has been charged with rape, kidnapping and parole violations, authorities said.
Anglen was captured by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force at a family member's residence in the 3600 block of East 144th Street in Cleveland, authorities said.
According to the U.S. Marshals, the rape occurred on Nov. 3. Following the incident, Anglen fled but was located by police and a short chase ensued. The chase was called off due to inclement weather. The case was then turned over to the U.S. Marshals, authorities said.
“A violent fugitive, who through his actions clearly showed his resolve to avoid apprehension, was quickly apprehended before he could cause further harm to our citizens. The great work of your task force officers often goes unnoticed by the public, but this incident is a terrific example of how effective the task force can be,” Independence Police Chief Michael Kilbane said.
