CLEVELAND — A gun-wielding man was taken into custody Thursday morning after charging at Cleveland police officers on the city's West Side.
Witnesses told police that the man was spotted taking items out of cars and when he was confronted at, the man pulled a gun out and threatened a resident, according to authorities.
Police heading down Storer Avenue towards West 50th Street at 4 a.m. spotted a man matching the description of the suspect and pulled over to approach him.
That's when the man charged at police with a gun drawn. An officer fired three shots, but none of the bullets struck the man as he ran off, authorities said.
Police spotted him about an hour later in a backyard and took him into custody. According to police, the man still had the gun on him when he was arrested.
The man was not injured.
The man's name has not been released.
