Man shoots alleged robber during incident at Cleveland gas station

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating a robbery that resulted in one person’s death Wednesday night.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. in the 7300 block of Lorain Avenue.

Police said officers responded to the location for a report of a man shot. Officers found a 19-year-old man down in a parking lot at the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows that two men approached a 24-year-old man at a gas station and robbed him. The man told police they assaulted him and he shot one man. He also told police that the other robber followed him home.

Police said they arrested the second robber.

The victim sustained a laceration to his lip, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation.
