Motorcyclist killed in overnight crash along East 55th Street in Cleveland

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at the intersection of East 55th Street and Scovill Avenue just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday according to Cleveland police.

The motorcyclist was headed northbound on East 55th when a car headed southbound crossed into the rider's path. The Cleveland Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene to determine the cause of the crash and who was at fault. 

Police said four adults including, one pregnant woman, jumped from the car after the crash and ran eastbound down Scovill Avenue. They were quickly stopped by Cleveland police who were in the area and heard the crash.

The rider was ejected and thrown about 50 feet into a nearby field. He was taken from the scene by Cleveland EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
