Man dies after being shot multiple times at Cleveland library branch on Pearl Road

CLEVELAND — A man died after being shot multiple times at the Cleveland Public Library South Brooklyn Branch Tuesday night, according to Cleveland police.

At about 6:11 p.m., officers responded to the library at 4303 Pearl Rd. to find a 19-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds inside the library. Officers and EMS provided first aid to the victim, who was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.

On scene, it was learned that the victim and the shooter met at the library, a fight ensued, and shots were fired. The shooter then fled on foot.

Members of the homicide unit and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. The matter remains under investigation.

It is not clear from the information provided by police whether the shooting happened inside or outside of the library.
