More than three dozen Cleveland fire cadets are now officially Cleveland firefighters.

Mayor Frank Jackson swore the cadets in during a graduation ceremony Friday afternoon at Cleveland City Hall.

Four of the cadets are sons of current or former Cleveland firefighters.

“Growing up, being around the fire department in the City of Cleveland, it was one of the things I always wanted to do,” said Vincent Calvillo, one cadet who graduated Friday.

“I’m proud for my son; I’m so proud for the City of Cleveland that fine firefighters, including my son, are going to represent the city, to protect, and save lives,” said Cleveland Fire Department Chief Angelo Calvillo.

The cadets completed 18 weeks of rigorous training before graduating.
