CLEVELAND — A United plane made an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Monday morning, according to a spokesperson for United Airlines.

The plane, ExpressJet Airlines Flight 4269, operating as United Express from Dayton, Ohio, to Newark, landed safely in Cleveland following a mechanical issue, according to Robert Einhorn, spokesperson for United Airlines.

Passengers on the plane will take a replacement aircraft to Newark.

Several fire trucks escorted the plane from the runway to the gate.
