Police are investigating after three children witnessed a deadly shooting inside a Cleveland home Tuesday night.
Officials said two people were shot inside a home in the 3800 block of East 78th Street.
Police learned two people entered the house with weapons drawn through an unlocked rear door and entered through the kitchen, firing several shots. One of the occupants inside the home fired back with a .40 caliber handgun, hitting a 25-year-old man, who was later identified as a suspect by police.
Police confirmed the children who were inside the home at the time of the shooting were not injured.
Neighbors upstairs said they heard a bunch of commotion downstairs and shots fired. One of the bullets penetrated the downstairs ceiling and entered their living room.
The 25-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he tried to flee out the door when he fell over the railing and on to the driveway.
The second person who entered the home with the 25-year-old man fled the scene.
A 37-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach. Her condition is unknown.
