Police detectives are investigating a sexual assault case where a woman was attacked in the basement of an Elyria home by a man with a gun.
The assault happened Tuesday around 1:25 p.m. in the 300 block of 4th Street.
The 52-year-old woman told police she had just entered the laundry room of the multi-family home when she was approached from behind by a man with a gun. The man grabbed the woman by the neck and told her to remove her clothing.
The man ran off when the woman started screaming, police said.
The assailant is described as a white male in his mid-30s to 40s, standing about 6 feet tall with a thin build. The man has short-cropped brown hair and a five o'clock shadow. He was wearing a blue shirt, jeans and a red and white pair of shoes, according to police.
