Police searching for 2 people connected to death of woman found dismembered, set on fire

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are looking for two people who are “persons of interest” in connection with the homicide of a 54-year-old woman whose body was found partially dismembered and set on fire earlier this year.

They have not been charged with a crime.

On Feb. 19, Cleveland firefighters responded to a brush fire near a set of train tracks by Clermont and Larchmont avenues. Police were called in after firefighters discovered that it was a burning body.

The body was later identified as 54-year-old Benette R. Smith.

Anyone who recognizes the identities of the individuals pictured above is asked to call Cleveland police.

The case remains under investigation.
