Report: Cleveland ranks in top 10 for most corrupt cities in the country

CLEVELAND — Cleveland is one of the most corrupt cities in the country, according to a report from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Cleveland was ranked number nine.

According to the report, Cleveland had 171 federal public corruption convictions between 2010 and 2017. The city had 991 convictions between 1976 and 2017. Cleveland's numbers for public corruption convictions have gone down in the past decade.

Chicago ranked as the most corrupt city with 1,713 convictions between 1976 and 2017.

Earlier this month, a trio of current and former officials in Cuyahoga County were indicted following a corruption probe into their illicit activities.
