CLEVELAND — A safe worth $3,000 that went missing from an office in the Cuyahoga County Justice Center's cafeteria has been found -- wait for it -- in the cafeteria, giving this insane story exactly the kind of nonsensical ending it so richly deserves.

The safe was reported stolen Monday morning when a manager of a company that rents out space in the cafeteria on the fourth floor of the Justice Center noticed that someone had removed the glass from his office door and absconded with the safe.

Today authorities said that the safe was found concealed in the cafeteria but didn't elaborate further. Was it hiding out in the open? Or concealed under a load of tater-tots? We may never know.

According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, there were no signs of a break-in at the cafeteria itself and the safe was secured at the end of the day on Dec. 13.

Authorities are still investigating to determine how and why the safe was moved. They didn't say if the safe had been opened or if any of its contents were taken.
