A male was arrested after a reported robbery at a west side pizza shop Tuesday night.

Pizza Planet owner Jairus Lysyj said a male walked into the W. 130th Street shop at about 6:30 p.m., hopped over the counter and took money from the register. He then pistol-whipped an employee and started firing his gun, Lysyj said.

Lysyj said the male demanded money but still fired his gun after the employees turned over cash.

Surveillance video caught the robbery. Police officers took someone into custody on Carrington Avenue nearby less than two hours later. Lysyj told newsnet5.com that he was the robber.

A car window was blown out from the bullets but no one was injured.

Lysyj showed newsnet5.com bullet holes he said were caused by the shooting and added that his sister narrowly missed being shot.

Lysyj noted that Pizza Planet had never been robbed in its 20 years at that location.

Police arrived quickly, Lysyj added, and reacted quickly to arrest a suspect.
