Tamir Rice autopsy report released, 12-year-old was in good health with no drugs in system

Tamir Rice's autopsy report was released late Friday morning.

The report states Rice's body was at the Medical Examiner's Office on November 24. He was 12-years-old, 5'7", and weighed 195 lbs.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, Rice was outside of Cudell Recreation Center in Cleveland when he was shot by a police officer and then collapsed to the ground. Paramedics were called and treatment was administered. After being transported to MetroHealth, Rice received additional treatment and drug therapy before an operation was performed.

Rice failed to respond and was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m. on Nov. 23 at MetroHealth Medical Center. His death was the end result of a gunshot wound to his torso with injuries to a major vessel, intestines and pelvis. The autopsy report states Rice’s death is a homicide.

A toxicology report shows that Rice had no drugs in his system before drug therapy was given to him at MetroHealth.

The report continues to state that Rice’s body was well developed and well nourished.
