TSA finds loaded gun in passenger's carry-on bag at Cleveland airport

Posted

The Transportation Security Administration found a loaded firearm at Cleveland Hopkins Airport Tuesday morning.

A loaded Ruger 9mm handgun was discovered in a passenger's carry-on bag.

Airport police took possession of the bag and escorted the passenger out of the checkpoint area, TSA said.

Firearms are allowed in checked baggage but are prohibited in carry-on bags.

“Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the checkpoint,” said Mark Howell, TSA Regional Spokesperson.

This is the sixteenth firearm discovered by TSA officers at Cleveland Hopkins Airport this year. A total of 19 were found last year.
