U.S. Marshals will assess the Cuyahoga County Jail, following the deaths of six inmates in less than four months.
News 5 confirmed the marshals' involvement in assessing the jail is at the request of the Cuyahoga County Executive.
Marshals from Cleveland, Toledo, and Akron will be involved, as well as a person from the Standards and Compliance branch of the U.S. Marshals from Washington D.C.
Pete Elliott, a U.S. Marshal from the Cleveland branch, said they would start the assessment as soon as the person from Washington arrives.
The group of Marshals will be reviewing and inspecting the jail.
They will compare their notes to how other facilities around the country are operated and give a recommendation to the county.
Elliot said they have a vested interest in the operations of the facility because federal inmates are kept at the jail.
