USA Triathlon brings extensive road closures and detours to Cleveland this weekend

CLEVELAND — The 2019 Toyota USA Triathlon kicks off this weekend and is expected to bring more than 5,000 athletes and 10,000 spectators to Cleveland for the two-day event.

The triathlon starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday at 6500 Memorial Shoreway and ends Sunday at 4 p.m.

The swim portion of the triathlon will be held at Edgewater Park. The route for the running and biking portions of the race wind through the neighborhoods of Detroit-Shoreway, Edgewater, Downtown, St. Clair-Superior and University Circle, according to the city.

Due to the extensive routes participants will be taking, the city of Cleveland has announced multiple road closures for the weekend.

Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 from 4:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Eastbound Shoreway – Lake/Clifton & West Boulevard to Muni Lot
• Westbound Shoreway – Dead Man’s Curve to Lake/Clifton & West Boulevard
• South Marginal Road – Muni Lot to East 55^th Street
• East 55th Street – South Marginal Road to St. Clair Avenue
• St. Clair Avenue – East 55^th Street to East 40^th Street
• East 40^th Street – St. Clair Avenue to Chester Avenue
• Chester Avenue (Westbound) – East 40^th Street to East 105^th Street
• East 105th Street – Chester Avenue – MLK/East Boulevard
• MLK Boulevard – East 105^th Street to East Boulevard

Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 from 4:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Lake Avenue – West 104^th Street to Clifton/Lake
• West Blvd. – Lake Avenue to Edgewater Drive

Sunday, Aug. 11, 2018 from 4:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• South Marginal Road – Muni Lot to East 55^th Street

• West Blvd. – Lake Avenue to Edgewater Drive

Vehicle access to Edgewater Park will be restricted Saturday, Aug. 10 or Sunday, Aug. 11 from 4:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
