Cleveland Clinic employee fatally shot while walking her dog in a Cleveland park

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland Clinic employee walking her dog in a small park on Cleveland’s West Side was shot and killed Thursday evening.

Authorities say the shooting happened around 7 p.m. at McGowan Park near McGowan and Erwin avenues.

Witnesses walking in the area found 58-year-old Sheila Wallace and the police were notified.

When police arrived, they found Wallace unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our caregiver. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues at this time.”

Officers found her dog nearby but didn’t say if it was harmed in the shooting.
