Wrong-way driver dies from injuries in crash on Cleveland Memorial Shoreway

CLEVELAND — A 50-year-old woman driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway has died, according to a spokesperson for the Cleveland Division of Police.

On Wednesday at approximately 2:40 p.m., a 50-year-old woman was traveling the wrong way down State Route 2 between West 49th Street and West 73rd Street when she collided with a Ford Explorer.

The 50-year-old woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 49-year-old man who was driving the Ford Explorer was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with severe injuries.

A 14-year-old passenger in the Ford was also taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with a broken leg and a broken arm.

A previous version of this story said a 49-year-old woman was injured. It has since been updated.
