VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — Agents from the Cleveland Division of the FBI's Violent Crime Task Force and agents from the National Park Service Investigative Service Branch are investigating after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Tuesday.

A 31-year-old man was found in the woods near Terra Vista Natural Study Area, located at 11400 Tinkers Creek Road in Valley View.

The medical examiner identified the victim as Matthew John Dunmire, 31, of Cleveland. He had a "gunshot wound of head with perforations of skull and brain."

The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.

On Friday, a spokesperson for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park released the following statement: "There was a discovery of a deceased person and there is an ongoing investigation."

Agents from the Violent Crimes task Force are working with agents from the National Park Service, investigating the circumstances surrounding Dunmire's death.

Currently, agents believe Dunmire died "a few days" before his body was found.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Cleveland FBI at 1-877-FBI-OHIO.
