CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted jail escape after an inmate dressed as part of the medical staff was found wandering the facility.
The incident happened Monday, according to authorities.
The woman left her holding cell, walked into the medical unit and grabbed a lab coat, ID card and laptop. Authorities said the woman walked through the building for more than an hour masquerading as an employee before she was stopped and questioned by a corrections officer.
Despite the woman not actually leaving the building, the sheriff’s office said they are treating the incident as an attempted escape.
The matter is still under investigation.
