Eastlake Mayor Dennis Morley is looking forward to a strong year in ticket sales at Classic Park in the 2017 season.

Morley told News 5 attendance for the Lake County Captains has been pretty flat over the past 3 years, and even down just a bit, with 1,000 fewer seats sold in 2016.

Morley made it clear the success of the Captains is critical to his city of 19,000 residents, since Eastlake isn't scheduled to payoff its $38M stadium until 2031.

Morley believes the Captains are taking an aggressive approach to boost ticket sales.

"Right now with this weather, people aren't really coming out that we've noticed," said Morley.

"But yes, they will catch up with the fireworks and the specialty nights, the bobble heads and heritage nights."

Captains Media Relations Manager Tim O'Brien outlines aseries of special promotional events the baseball team will be hosting in June and July.

O'Brien said the addition of a new  50' by 22' video board in center field will also dramatically enhance the fan experience.

O'Brien explained fans will also find an expanded menu, as well as the addition of an Alesci's Deli in the main concourse.

"April and May is not the best because of colder weather, but it will pick-up," said O'Brien.

"I would like to think that we provide a little bit different experience than you would get from going downtown," O'Briend said.
