Law enforcement announces OVI checkpoints happening across Northeast Ohio this weekend

CLEVELAND — Local enforcement across Northeast Ohio will be holding OVI/sobriety checkpoints this weekend, Aug. 23-Aug. 25.

Lorain County

Elyria Township—The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will have OVI checkpoints from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm. Friday night on Lake Avenue in Elyria Township.

The checkpoint will be held in partnership with other nearby patrols in the area, looking for alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.

Elyria— The Lorain County OVI Task Force will hold an OVI checkpoint on Cleveland Street, between 7-10 p.m.

Friday’s task force is made up of officers from Lorain, North Ridgeville, Sheffield Village, Elyria, Avon Lake, Amherst and Avon police departments.

Stark County

Troopers will hold an OVI checkpoint from 8-12:00 a.m. Friday at 1847 Manchester Avenue in Tuscarawas Township.

Richland County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold an OVI checkpoint in Mansfield Saturday night.

The location of the checkpoint will be announced on Saturday.

Summit County

The Summit County OVI Task Force will hold sobriety checkpoints across Summit County on Friday, Aug. 23 and early Saturday morning on Aug. 24.

Cuyahoga County

The Brook Park Police Department is conducting an OVI checkpoint Friday night from 8-11 p.m. on Friday. The checkpoint will be on West 130th Street in Brook Park.

The checkpoint will be held in conjunction with other patrols to combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes.
