AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is looking for a man who they say is connected to three robberies that happened Monday night.
The suspect, Aaron Gaines, 39, is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs around 200 pounds. Gaines has not been arrested. Authorities say Gaines should be considered armed and dangerous.
The first robbery occurred around 6:20 p.m. at a store in the 1200 block of S. Arlington Street.
According to police, an unknown person walked into the store, pointed a gun at a clerk and demanding money. The robber left after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the incident.
The next robbery occurred around 6:40 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of Hazel Place.
According to police, a person was robbed by a man brandishing a handgun. The robber demanded keys to a parked car. A shot was fired during a fight over the car keys, but no one was hit. The robber fled the scene shortly thereafter.
Police responded to the 500 block of East Buchtel Avenue just a few minutes later for a carjacking.
The reporting person told police he was sitting at a red light at Carroll and Fountain streets when a man came up, brandished a gun and demanded his Mercedes Benz. The victim gave the man his car and the robber drove off, only to crash a few minutes later at a gas station in the 700 block of East Market Street. The robber ran off before police arrived at the scene.
The incidents remain under investigation.
