Body located in wooded area in Ashland after man admits to relatives he killed woman he met at bar

ASHLAND, Ohio — Ashland police are investigating after a man admitted to a family member that he picked up a woman from an Ashland bar and killed her, eventually leading officers to a wooded area in Ashland County where they found the body of an unidentified woman, according to Chief David Marcelli, of the Ashland Police Department.

On Tuesday at around 2:15 a.m., dispatch received a call from a concerned person who said his relative called him and admitted he picked up a woman in an Ashland bar and then killed her.

Later in the afternoon on Tuesday, officers received a report of a missing Mansfield woman who was last seen at a bar Monday night before leaving with a man.

Officers located the man in Cleveland where he traveled back with detectives to Ashland. The body, later identified by the Ashland County Coroner's Office as Tina L. Goad, was located in a wooded area.

Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the coroner’s office are investigating the scene.

The man is being held pending a review of possible charges.
