4 people arrested in shooting that killed 26-year-old man, injured woman at Ashland apartment

ASHLAND, Ohio — Four people were taken into custody after a shooting Monday night at Almond Tree Inn in Ashland that killed a 26-year-old man and injured a 28-year-old woman, according to a news release from Ashland police.

Shortly before midnight, officers from the Ashland Police Department responded to 1423 Cleveland Avenue after dispatch took three separate 911 calls from people who heard gunshots and screaming at the Almond Tree Inn.

When officers and paramedics arrived, a 28-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were found with gunshot wounds. Both of the victims were identified in the release as residents of separate apartments at the Almond Tree Inn.

The 28-year-old woman was transported to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center, where her condition is unknown at this time.

The 26-year-old man, later identified by police as Timothy Maust, was pronounced dead at the scene, according authorities.

A .22 caliber pistol was recovered from the residence of one of the people arrested. Police didn’t specify the owner of the gun.

Authorities arrested a 19-year-old male, two 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old male, all of whom are residents of Ashland.

The adult male is being held at the Ashland County Jail, while the teens were transported to juvenile detention facilities in Richland and Erie counties.

Police said no charges have been filed, pending a review by the Ashland County Prosecutors Office.
