There's a warning along our coast for anyone who may want to venture into the water. The swimming conditions in Lake Erie are dangerous.
A 16-year-old nearly drowned at Walnut Beach Tuesday. He's at Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center fighting for his life.
The Coast Guard pulled him out of the water. He was fighting waves 3 to 5 feet high.
According to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project, Lake Erie has seen the highest amount of drownings out of all the Great Lakes in 2018. This year, there's already been 25 drownings.
On Monday, a 20-year-old man from Florida died. He was pulled from the water at Geneva State Park.
The dangers are credited to the strong winds and high waves. A Beach Hazard Statement is in effect through Wednesday night stretching from Lorain County to Pennsylvania.
