The Ashtabula County sheriff has confirmed a body was found during search efforts for a missing woman on Tuesday, but officials have not confirmed exactly who was found.
A body was located in Saybrook Township in the area of North Bend Road, according to Sheriff Bill Johnson.
Search efforts were in progress for 23-year-old Rand Hilal Al Dulaimi, who was last seen on July 9. She was reported missing by her family on July 11. Authorities said Al Dulaimi disappeared under what they believe to be suspicious circumstances.
Friends close to Al Dulaimi were concerned she may be in danger, saying she would never leave her 2-year-old son behind.
“Rand would never run away, 100 percent guaranteed. She would not leave Omar, she would not leave her phone, and she would not leave her vehicle," her friend Coletta Carlisle said. "If she was going to run away intentionally, she would take her phone, her vehicle and her son. She would not leave her baby behind. That’s the biggest thing, she would not leave Omar."
In March of 2017, an Amber Alert was issued and later cancelled after authorities said Al Dulaimi's ex-husband Jeffrey Stanley abducted their son. Court records show Stanley was convicted on charges of trespassing and endangering children in 2017. Stanley was ordered to have no contact with Al Dulaimi or their son as part of his probation agreement.
Stanley has been named as a person of interest in Al Dulaimi's disappearance. He was arrested on July 14 on a parole violation. He is currently being held in the Ashtabula County Jail.
Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the body found Tuesday night, but the sheriff did say they are no longer searching for Al Dulaimi.
