INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Two people have been charged for allegedly attacking employees at Top Golf in Independence on Wednesday.

The suspects, a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, have been charged with assault and resisting arrest, according to an Independence police report.

Officers responded to the facility around 11 p.m., according to the report. Upon arrival, officers learned that two employees had been attacked by a man and woman after they were told they would be kicked out for calling an employee an obscenity.

The report states that the couple had opened a tab while sitting at the bar and waiting for a golf stall to open up. When the stall became available, the couple went to it but didn’t close their tab. An employee ran the man’s credit card, but it declined the charges. The employee went to the stall and explained the problem.

The man told the employee the card shouldn’t have been run and then pulled out a wad of cash and said, “I obviously have it.” He handed her $40 and one of the suspects allegedly called her a “dumb white b***h.”

The employee told the couple that she would get a manager and have them kicked out. The man then allegedly called her a “dumb cracker” and started yelling, saying to go ahead and get a manager, the report said.

Another employee walked over to the stall and asked the man to calm down. That’s when, according to the report, the female suspect allegedly struck one of the employees, causing her to fall to the ground. When the other employee tried to help her coworker, the male suspect allegedly struck her several times on the head.

The report states that both employees had visible injuries and one suffered a black eye and a broken tooth.

The two suspects tried to run off but were restrained by other people until officers arrived.
