48-year-old man dies after shooting in broad daylight on Cleveland's east side

Police are investigating the shooting death of a man on the city's east side Thursday.

At around 3:04 p.m., police responded to the area of E. 123rd Street and Phillips Avenue for shots fired.

A 48-year-old man was found in the rear driveway of a house in the 12300 block of Phillips Avenue.

Officers provided medical aid until EMS arrived. The man who was shot, Raymond Gould of Columbia Station, was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he died from gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder, according to police.

The victim was last seen leaving a corner store in the area with an unknown male shortly before the fatal shooting, according to police.
