CLEVELAND — Eight Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office employees have been laid off from various positions, according to a county spokesperson.

Union sources tell News 5 that the employees are from five separate unions that represented employees in the county.

The layoffs include three clerks, two jailers, one laundry employee, one security officer and one deputy sergeant.

A county spokesperson said that the decision to lay employees off was impacted by the unions decision to reject furloughs. Additionally, the unions were told in advance that the decision could lead to layoffs.
