LYNDHURST, Ohio — An 86-year-old man from Lyndhurst is the most recent flu-related death reported Monday by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.
His death brings the total number of flu-related deaths in Cuyahoga County for the 2018-19 season to 18.
During the week of April 21-27, flu activity was rated as “minimal” for the fourth consecutive week. There were 10 confirmed cases of flu-associated hospitalizations during this same week.
Health officials said 4.5% of deaths reported were because of pneumonia. Eighty percent of pneumonia-related deaths occur in adults 65 years old and older, officials say.
