COLUMBUS — The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees Girls Varsity Gymnastics team has had a perfect season and they will compete in the 2020 Gymnastics State Tournament this weekend, beginning Friday.
After taking first place in both the Ohio High School Athletic Association sectional and district meets, the Bees will look for their 17th consecutive win of the season.
In addition to the team qualifying for the state tournament, six individuals from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School have qualified. Jenny Bandsuh will compete individually in the uneven bars, Julia Salis will compete individually on the beam and Abby Williamson will compete individually on the floor. Kaitlyn Dembie will compete individually in the vault, bars and floor, Lindsay Kern will compete individually in vault and bars while Erin Delahunty will compete individually in all four competitions.
Delahunty, Dembie and Kern will compete in the all around.
Marina Hearns and Ella Shaheen join the six girls who qualified individually to represent Brecksville-Broadview Heights in the team qualifier competition.
If the Bees win this weekend, it will be the program’s 20th state title.
The Bees will take part in the OHSAA state tournament on Friday, Feb. 28 in team competitions and Saturday, Feb. 29 in individual competitions at Hilliard Bradley High School in Columbus.
