A tow truck operator was hurt Thursday when a driver crashed into his tow truck as he was towing an SUV from Harvard Road near Millcreek Boulevard in Highland Hills about 3 a.m.
The crash was so severe that the SUV that the tow truck operator was towing ended up sideways at the top of the flatbed against the cab of the tow truck.
The crash happened in the right lane of the four-lane road and the tow truck appeared to have had its amber flashing lights activated.
The driver of the car jumped out and ran away after the crash. Police from area departments were seen using a K-9 to help search for the suspect.
No word on the condition of the tow truck driver.
Police have not released if they caught the suspect.
Two people that were from the SUV that was originally being towed were not injured in the crash.
