BEDFORD, Ohio — A Chagrin Valley Dispatch worker helped save the life of a pup that was choking on a bone, showing how well-versed she is at helping those in need.
Dispatcher Marra Wargo answered a call from a woman who said that her dog was choking on a bone.
Although dispatchers, who are trained to handle human emergencies, aren’t usually prepared to handle animal emergencies, Wargo just so happened to work at a veterinary clinic before working at Chagrin Valley Dispatch and knew exactly what to do.
Wargo provided the caller with instructions on how to do the Heimlich maneuver on her dog and after a few minutes, the dog was able to swallow the bone and was back to normal.
Chagrin Valley Dispatch said that Wargo went above and beyond the call of duty and since it was a rare circumstance, was awarded a paw print pin to recognize her for her efforts.
